The Bounce for Bulgaria event was a huge success! I cannot even begin to touch on the blessings that poured over our family, and the outpouring of support and love that was showered upon us. To think that people would care about a need half-way around the world and respond so generously towards it has opened my eyes to how God moves among His people. I have to say (once again) that Courtney and I cannot take any credit for any of this, but glory be to God who provided opportunity after opportunity, and moved in the hearts of His people. His hand of provision shone through time and time again, and at numerous times throughout the night Courtney and I just looked at each other and shook our heads in awe. I cannot even begin to name all of the people who helped by donating their time, baked goods, raffle items, money, and prayer or who bought t-shirts, jewelry, and baked goods paying beyond the listed price. If I heard “Keep the change” once Friday night, I heard it a dozen more. The building was “rented” for free to us by a sweet (and brave) woman, and so many people jumped in to volunteer that I could hardly find a job for myself! I took way too many pictures (surprise!), and will probably share too many, but the blessing (just like the pictures) are too many to count!
The first blessing of the day came from getting to meet another adopting family that lives nearby. We have all been anticipating getting together, and it was a joy to meet the Ramseys and hear their hearts for adoption. We enjoyed lunch together, and just shared our stories—what led us to this point. Every story is so unique, and every adopting family’s journey looks different, and it is great to hear how it has played out for other people. We all agreed that this would be the first of MANY get-togethers for our families and we long to see each child come home and complete this picture:
The Purpose of the Event: Raising the Roof on the Maria Luisa Orphanage in Buzovgrad, Bulgaria
From the Kindness of Others: Donations
We have no real way of knowing exactly how many people attended the event, but our best estimates are around 150 people throughout the night! I loved watching the sea of “Love Makes a Family” t-shirts at the event!!!!
So the grand total hasn’t been determined yet, but here is an estimate of what we have collected so far:
$1300- Apparent Project Jewelry Sales
$950- Love Makes a Family t-shirts
$650- Raffle tickets
$800- VBS offerings from our churches
$2,100+ Love offerings
$100 Face painting
$1,000+ Bake sale and Food
So….if you are adding that up, we (meaning YOU –friends, family, church, community!) have collected OVER $6,000 so far towards the Raise the Roof Project!!!!
I thank my God in all my remembrance of you,
always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy,
because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.
